I left drinkin' on the city train
To spend some time on the road
Then one mornin' I woke up in LA
Caught my breath on the coast
I've been goin' through a change
I might never be sure
I'm just walkin' in a haze
I'm not ready to turn
No woman
No woman
Midnight drivin' through the Bay
Goin' back on the road
Comin' up and I wish I could stay
I've been sleepin' alone
I've been goin' through a change
I might never be sure
I'm just walkin' in a haze
I'm not ready to turn
No woman
No woman
No woman
No woman
I left drinkin' on the city train
To spend some time on the road
The new EP from Scottish songwriter Alec Bowman_Clarke goes deep, setting vulnerable lyrics to gentle melodies & stripped-back arrangements. Bandcamp New & Notable Oct 30, 2021
Alec Bowman perfectly captures the dark soil under the pastoral world of British folk with this collection of melancholy originals. Bandcamp New & Notable May 12, 2020
This is absolute genius. Each song has its own unique mood, but what they all have in common is that they take their time, allowing the lush, patient, dazzlingly imaginative arrangements to gradually blossom. There are a dizzying variety of instrumental textures, pleasure and wonderment around every turn. I'm getting hints of Will Oldham circa "Arise Therefore," though that album is much more spare. Proof that "experimental" doesn't necessarily mean noisy. Joe Madden
